Otto is a proud MiFitLife client and triathlon junkie, along with his wife Terene. You’ll find them at most of the big tri events, half supporting each other and half competing against each other.
We caught up with Otto this week to find out a bit more about the Du Plessis’ and why they choose MiFitLife
How did you and your wife meet – on or off the bike?
We met at the Hennopspark gym. At the time Terene was doing weight training and spinning there while I was swimming, training for some triathlon.
Is there any internal rivalry or that competitive edge between you guys at all when racing or training?
Not really. It’s best to just focus on one’s own progression. There has been an occasion or two in a race when I had to look over my shoulder on the run to see where Terene is! :-)
Do you always train together?
Mostly over weekends when there is more time.
Last weekend we went up to the Cederberg to see how well we can integrate camping with training. One of the big challenges is packing all the extra gear. With the mountainous terrain it ended up being more of a training camp rather than a relaxing weekend away. :-)
Will you ever ride on a tandem bicycle together?
Nope. Haha. Terene’s parents are strong on the tandem though.
You were one of MiFitLife’s first customers- what stood out for you in the offering?
The MiFitLife policy is developed by athletes, for athletes and this really reflects in the product offering. Which athlete doesn’t want accident, life and race entry fees cover? So that is what stood out for us. Plus, MifitLife is like a big family and we all get together at the triathlons!
What is your 3rd favorite reptile?
The Triceratops as it looks similar to the rhino, but unfortunately is extinct. Let this be a reminder for us to look after our environment, wildlife and nature.
