Have you reached cabin fever status yet? Looking for a break away from the house that doesn't break lockdown regulations is possible, but what can you do? Here are a couple of weekend plans that you can enjoy.
Restaurant
Lockdown has quickly revealed just how many dishes accumulate in the sink and how cooking every day can make you miss being able to go and grab a bite at your favourite restaurant. Under level 3 regulations this is now possible, however it comes with a few rules that need to be followed to prevent the spread of COVID-19. You will need to wear a mask at all times except when you are eating or drinking. A screening test will be conducted at the entrance of a restaurant to check your temperature.
Going fishing
Take out your fishing rod and head for the waters but make sure to get your permits sorted before you do so. All fishing is open, except for charter fishing. You can go with your family but remember to put on your mask and stick to the required number of people.
Did someone say game drive?
Experience some wildlife and catch some fresh air with a game drive at your nearest game park. These need to be self-driven trips at any private or public game reserve. The social distancing regulations still apply. You can visit the SANP to find out which game reserves are open and the relevant protocols to follow when visiting.
Going for a hike
If the travel ban has you feeling down, you can overcome this by exploring the great hiking trails in SA with you and your loved ones. There will be a fee for some of the hiking trails, but you will also get some free options to enjoy with your family. Like everything else, there is a limited number of people who can gather for such activities, social distancing should still be in place and masks must be worn at all times.
